I had a best friend that turned me onto Zevon, way back in the day. My buddy died in 2001. So I kind of have Zevon, The Wind, and my friend all kind of intertwined in the same memory strand.
It took a good while before I could listen to "Keep Me In Your Heart" without getting choked up.
I bought the DVD of the VH1 special as soon as it came out. That was one for keeps. It was really well done. And you could see how so many of his friends came back to work on it, and I'm sure, to say goodbye.
Anyway, thanks for keeping the memory alive. We should all remember to enjoy every sandwich.

Wow. Enjoy Every Sandwich. I love that CD and think WZ was one of the best. Did you ever see the VH1 special on the making of his last CD, The Wind?
Just. Awesome. And painfully sad. How ironic that he made argueably his best album ever while practically on his deathbed.
