 I'm not sure why this particular celebrity death is making me as sad as it is...I love the Beastie Boys, that's not in question :)
 I think it's the fact that their music has in some way been a part of my life for a very long time.
 My brother was obsessed with them when License to Ill came out in 1986 so needless to say 8 year old ErinPatricia was introduced to them at an early age.
 I clearly remember being in summer day camp at the YMCA in Plum, sitting in a room with counselors and other campers, making up new lyrics to Paul Revere for some kind of Day Camp Games.
I never got into Paul's Boutique till later in life, but Check Your Head came out as I was entering Highschool and Ill Communication was a constant companion on my drives from my place in new Jersey to my home in Pittsburgh.
  Hello Nasty came along when I was looking for a change, newness, something better in my life, and some of those songs just highlight memories in my head of nights out with my friends. Epic sing-a-longs to Intergalactic, Body Movin' and Three MC's and One DJ...

Grinch Approved Holiday Playlist.

If you know me at all you know that I'm not the biggest Christmas fan. There's a lot of reasons why, that I'm not going to go into here, but needless to say I'm kind of a Grinch. Now, I wouldn't be looting the Who's houses, but I would probably be sitting on my front porch in a rocker drinking a cold beer watching the Green One's shenanigans without putting a stop to them. What? Those Who's are loud what with all of their singing and love and friendship and whatnot.

I have thawed a smidge though. I put together a CD for work based off of the fact that we were all tired of hearing all of the same music on the local station broadcasting 24 hour a day Holiday music, and the fact that a friend of mine is inexplicably in love with "I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas" and said radio station wouldn't play it.

Mix Tape Memories.

So while in the midst of my massive cleaning jag in the house I have come across a lot of memories.
Pictures good and bad, people I never want to forget and those I'd rather not remember.
Some things priceless, some things painful.

One thing I found today struck me as particularly meaningful, throwing me into a wistful mood for simpler times. I sometimes I wish I had college to do over again, I wish I could change the person I made a priority and get back everything else I let slip past me.
I found a cassette case, with liner notes, minus the tape ,of a mix my ex made for me in college, and while I truly think he was a*****REDACTED***** when we were together I threw away, or more honestly burned, most everything he ever gave me, except for this tape. Sadly it has been lost to the sands of time but I wish wish wish I still had this tape ( yes I know I can just download it all,but it's not the same as a good old fashioned mix tape)

It completely sums up what I was listening to in 1996/97.
